Koraal - MAGMA_Live immersive
_________ An audiovisual ritual through subterranean frequencies, Koraal – Magma is a project that we at Desilence created in collaboration with John Talabot. Premiered during Sónar 2021, this immersive experience featured nine exclusive performances at the IDEAL venue in Barcelona, where we crafted both the visual content and live visuals for this groundbreaking project.
Koraal – Magma marked the world premiere of the live adaptation of La Casa del Volcán, a conceptual album by John Talabot’s pseudonym Koraal. Inspired by the extraterrestrial landscapes of Lanzarote, the album, released in 2020 by the renowned Dutch label Nous’klaer Audio, explores subterranean frequencies and evokes the primal forces of nature.
For these performances, we transformed the immersive space of IDEAL into a volcanic realm, blending pulsating beats with our surreal visuals to create a ritualistic journey through sound and imagery. Each performance was designed to invite the audience to delve into the depths of the Earth, resonating with the elemental power of magma and its transformative energy.
This project allowed us to push the boundaries of music and visual storytelling, crafting an immersive journey that captivated the senses and transported audiences into a world of raw, elemental power. Koraal – Magma stands as one of our most innovative and memorable contributions to Sónar 2021.
