LUX MUNDI _ SACRA
______ Lux Mundi is an audiovisual experience that bridges cultural heritage with digital technology, connecting the 12th century to the present and projecting a vision for the future. This project, curated by Antònia Folguera, combines heritage and innovation, showcasing the value of digital creativity in Catalonia.
Four digital artists—Alba G. Corral, Desilence, Hamill Industries, and MASSO—have reinterpreted the frescoes of the iconic apse in the church of Sant Climent de Taüll, which have been exhibited at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) for the past hundred years. Our contribution, titled SACRA, draws inspiration from sacred geometry and the mathematical language that structures the universe.
While studying the original frescoes, we were struck by how the basic geometric figures surrounding the Pantocrator evoke the Metatron's Cube. Through elements such as circles, symmetry, and centrality, these representations transcend the purely visual to convey profound theological ideas, linking Christ to perfection, order, and eternity.
The soundtrack for Lux Mundi was created by Tarta Relena. Their voices draw from the traditional songbook of the Mediterranean—and beyond—to open a portal that allows viewers to travel between past and future without leaving the present.
This fusion of heritage and innovation is as inevitable as the light that enables us to recreate the images of our past. Lux Mundi is presented in the church of Sant Climent de Taüll, in the Vall de Boí, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience how contemporary digital art interacts with historical heritage, projecting our cultural roots into the future through art and light.
