DRAWING TILES
______This mapping was first presented in the National Palace of Sintra within the framework of the Aura Festival and, a few months later, in the Arriaga Theatre of Bilbao during the nights of Bilbao 700. The mapping is divided into three parts of about 3 minutes each, accompanied by the soothing music of the Swede Jimmy Swenson. Of the first two parts, one is called "Shadowplay," in which, as its name suggests, we play with black and white and shadows, slowly transforming the building, and the second one is called "Distortion," where we play with the building, deforming it and altering its façade in a very slow, but exaggerated way.
The mappings carried out in both buildings are conceptually identical. The third part is explicitly devoted to the buildings and their narrative needs. In the case of Sintra, the briefing required us to use the characteristic tiles that fill its interior walls, hence the title "Drawing Tiles;" In Bilbao, where the third part was called "Eundura" ("Texture"), we were asked to highlight key elements of the city, El Hierro, glass and nature. This concept may be adapted to any other facade; the number of required projectors will vary depending on its size.
